چکیده

experiments revealed the existence of eight and three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at the promoter and 30-UTR of the goat LALBA gene respectively (Table S2 and Fig. S1). We also found eight additional putative polymorphic sites at exonic (all synonymous) and intronic regions. The potential functional significance of substitutions detected at the LALBA promoter was evaluated with the TFSEARCH software (http://www.cbrc.jp/research/db/TFSEARCH.html). This analysis showed that polymorphisms at SNPs c.-440C>T and c.-358C>T may destroy putative E2F (c.-440C>T, allele T) and p300 and CdxA (c.-358C>T, allele C) transcription factor binding sites. Analysis with UTRSCAN did not reveal any coincidence between SNPs c.*130C>T, c.*203C>T and c.*214C>T and 30-UTR functional motifs.

Deletion variant near ZNF389 is associated with control of ovine lentivirus in multiple sheep flocks

Ovine lentivirus (OvLV) is a macrophage-tropic lentivirus found in many countries that causes interstitial pneumonia, mastitis, arthritis and cachexia in sheep. There is no preventive vaccine and no cure, but breed differences suggest marker-assisted selective breeding might improve odds of infection and control of OvLV post-infection. Although variants in TMEM154 have consistent association wi...

Polymorphism of sheep POU1F1 gene exon 6 and 3'UTR region and their association with milk production traits

The purpose of the study was to detect the AluI and DdeI polymorphisms within POU1F1 gene exon 6 and 3'UTR region in Turkish sheep breeds, and their association with milk productive traits. Jugular blood samples were collected from 50 Sakiz, 50 White Karaman, and 50 Awassi sheep using EDTA as an anticoagulant. PCR-RFLP and sequencing analysis were performed to investigate possible polymorphisms...

A Commercial Comparison of Ewe Breeds for Reproduction, Wool and Lamb Growth

Sheep farmers are actively seeking unbiased information on the performance of sheep breeds and bloodlines within breeds to help improve their overall profitability. To help answer this question the Elmore Field Days Inc ran a comparison to determine the merit of five ewe genotypes for prime lamb and wool production from 2009 to 2014. Each of the five genotypes were represented by 42 ewes random...

Polymorphism of some Genes Associated with Meat-Related Traits in Egyptian Sheep Breeds

The genetic polymorphism of some genes related to meat production in three Egyptian sheep breeds (Barki, Rahmani and Osseimi) was studied. The candidate genes were: Calpastatin, Myostatin, Diacylglycerol-acyltransferase1, Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 and Booroola fecundity gene. The technique applied was the restriction fragment length polymorphism for the polymerase chain react...

Evaluation of Dorset, Finnsheep, Romanov, Texel, and Montadale breeds of sheep: I. Effects of ram breed on productivity of ewes of two crossbred populations.

Effects of Dorset, Finnsheep, Romanov, Texel, and Montadale breeds for performance as sires were estimated in the initial phase of a comprehensive evaluation of these breeds as contributors to sheep crossbreeding systems. Objectives were to evaluate the effects of ram breed, ewe breed, season of mating, and two-way interactions. Rams from the five breeds were single-sire-mated with ewes from tw...
